The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is a very well renowned tourist attraction for China. It attracts many people from all over the world to China.
Although it is not just a tourist attraction it was used as a defensive system as well as looking cool.

Why was it built

The Great Wall of China was not built to be a tourist attraction. It was actually built to defend the northern border of China. During the Qin dynasty, Qin made the soldiers, common people and criminals build the wall to protect China from the states above. That's why it was built.

What was it built out of

The wall was built out of mainly rammed earth, wood and rocks. However later on it was made out of bricks. Tiles where also used very commonly on the wall during the Ming dynasty so was stone and lime. The bricks sped up the process though so they where used lots

When was it built

The Great Wall was built during the Qin dynasty of 221-207 bc and lasted to the Ming dynasty. There where six states that built the wall they started there own bits then Qin United them all to connect it. When it was finished Qin ordered them to make it higher and longer.

The losses of the Wall

building a Great Wall that stretches over 5,500 miles long. Many people died in the process of building the wall. There bodies were left where the person fpdied and most are encased In the wall itself. Although not all died from constructing the greatest wall ever
